Puja Items:
In Hinduism worshipping various deities includes carrying out varied rituals and ceremonies. These ritual and ceremonies depend upon various ancient Hindu texts and mythology. Thus for various Pujas and ceremonies varied Puja items also known as Puja Samagri are required. Depending upon the Puja the list of Puja Samagri can be short or can be very extensive.
Some Puja items or Samagris can be available easily and others can be very rare. The common items required for any Pujas are garlands for deities, incenses, cotton wick for diyas and flowers for offering. Extensive Pujas may require other ingredients such as Supari, Bel Fruit, Ghee, Honey, Akshat (rice grains), Turmeric powder, Sindoor, Ganja Jal, Attar and many more.
Some ingredients required for some special Puja can be very rare and not easily available as specific flowers and herbs. Other specific ingredients can be used when worshiping a specific deity like milk and datura fruit is used to worship Lord Shiva and Betel leaves are used as an offering to Lord Hanuman.
Other Puja items may include items that are not really used in actual rituals but never the less are used during various Pujas and ceremonies such as Altar Cloth for Puja altars, Chunris, holy threads, Bhojpatras and Puja Thalis. Special items are required when conducting a Havan which includes Havan Kund, Hevan sticks, Cow dung cakes and special Havan herbs.
